The Pretty Reckless in Union Square

As much as I love Blair Waldorf's preppy headbands and quotable dialogue's, the absolute best part of the CW's only decent show, Gossip Girl, is Taylor Momsen, when she happens to be on camera, of course. Not only does she have the coolest style and and even cooler hair, but she's the frontwoman of my absolute favorite band, The Pretty Reckless. (You totally expected me to say the Spice Girls, didn't you?!)

Anyone who has met me at least once is probably a bit confused when I mention that I LOVE Taylor Momsen. I mean, with my beyond girly, nothing-but-pink, sense of style, paired with my love of 90's pop music (Think- "Barbie Girl"), why in the world would I EVER like this trying-to-be-cool, faux-rock, TV star? Simply because, well, she's awesome.

As soon as I heard "Make Me Wanna Die", I was totally hooked... and think, that's back when the only Taylor worth googling had teardrops on her guitar. I love the Pretty Reckless- every. last. song. My favorite? "Since You're Gone." It almost makes me wish I had a horrible ex-boyfriend to hate...

But even more than her uber loud music, I'm in love with her style... I love the black. I love the leather. I love the studs. She represents my inner rebel, whom I would resemble if I spent my entire paycheck in LF Soho. I even considered dying my long, now-brown hair platinum blonde a while back, but luckily I have friends who are a bit more level-headed than I to talk me out of it.

And yet, I still love Taylor. Which is totally awesome, because after her March 3rd Soho show was sold out, I fell into a brief depression. But now, she's coming to Union Square. April 12th. 6 PM. SHARP, according to Taylor's Twitter. Be there, or be, well, nonexistent, because your life will no longer matter.

Urban Outfitters' Wedding Dress Line, Bhldn, Prepares To Open Its First Retail Location In Chicago

Late last year, Urban Outfitters announced their newest brand- Bhldn (pronounced: Beholden), a bridal collection owned by Urban Outfitters Inc. Bhldn was launched online this Valentine’s day, and will not be sold in either Urban Outfitters nor Anthropologie. Instead, Bhldn will be sold in its own stores, the first of which will soon open in Chicago.

The Chicago location will be on East Walton, but until it’s open, Bhldn is available online. The price points range from $200 to $1600 for party dresses and from $600 to $4000 wedding gowns. There are also accessories available, including classic jewelry and vintage-inspired shoes.

Karl Lagerfeld for Diet Coke

A First Look At Lagerfeld's Second Collaboration With Diet Coke

It seems that when Karl Lagerfeld isn’t photographing and defending Blake Lively, he’s designing Diet Coke bottles. His last collaboration with Diet Coke produced the beyond-chic platinum, black, and pink bottles, graced with Lagerfeld’s silhouette. Now, Lagerfeld is on to the followup collection, which are equally praise-worthy.

The three designs in the newest collection are named Bernadette, Eleanor, and Irene, and they each have their own unique “personas.” Bernadette’s romanticism is matched with polka dots, Eleanor’s fashion forward status is shown with swirls, and Irene’s design is best described as “rock drama.”

Lagerfeld photographed the advertising campaign for the collection, starring Coco Rocha, Heidi Mount and Jeneil Williams. The limited edition bottles will be sold at specialty stores come June.

The Sway by Belinda Pasqua

A Look At My Newest Eco-Friendly Obsession

After debuting last September at the Green Shows during Eco Fashion Week, The Sway has become an environmentally–approved staple in our closets. Created by Sydney-born designer Belinda Pasqua, the bags featured in The Sway’s collection are made solely from leftover leather from a motorcycle accessories factory in Pakistan, as well as rewoven cotton which makes up the inner lining.

The collection consists of mostly clutches and shoulder bags, as well as a few other designs. Each bag is made unique by the textured exteriors, which make fringe and studs look cool again. (Not that they were ever not cool, of course!) We’re in love with Carter ($185, above) in Sky, a mini fringe, double zip chain purse.

The Sway is available online and in stores at Kaight, located at 83 Orchard Street, between Broome and Grand Streets. The complete collection can also be seen online.

Chanel vs. Blake Lively

Will Blake Keep Her Spot As The Face Of Chanel, Or Will The Execs Get Their Way And Be Rid Of Lively?

Remember a few months ago when Blake Lively became the official “It” girl of Hollywood? Not only was she the reigning Queen of the Upper East Side, but she was on the cover of Allure, Marie Claire, Vanity Fair, and literally every other glamorous high fashion magazine. She was also awarded not one, not two, but three Vogue covers, and became BFF’s with Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour practically overnight. But perhaps her biggest claim to fame was the announcement that Blake herself would be the face of Chanel Mademoiselle Handbags this Spring. (Did we mention that her biggest fan is none other than Karl Lagerfeld?!)

Well, that was then, and this is now. Blake’s Chanel ads are first beginning to appear (Check out the new Vogue!) in our favorite glossies, and although she looks glamorous as ever (Then again, how could something photographed by Lagerfeld himself not look glamorous?!), her role as a spokes model for the French fashion house is met with little enthusiasm.

America as a whole still loves Blake, but it seems that’s the problem- Chanel execs hate her overall American look, penning it as too wholesome and “off-brand”. In other words, Blake’s contemporary beauty isn’t quite in sync with Chanel USA’s ongoing attempts to identify it’s styles with the height of Parisian sophistication.

In the end, it seems the cited “internal grumblings” won’t hurt Lively’s newfound success. Karl Lagerfeld seems to love the breath of fresh air she’s bringing to the company. "She's a kind of American dream girl," he told WWD. "It was an easy job because everyone fell in love with her."

Guerlain Rouge Automatique

French Brand Launches Innovative New Lipstick

With “Ne m’oubliez pas” (Forget me not) in 1870, Aimé Guerlain first to created wax lipstick in a gold plated tube. In 1936, Olivier Échaudemaison found a small Art Deco wonder that captured his attention- the original “Rouge Automatique”. Today, he’s adapted the piece as the first lipstick without a cap and with an application technique requiring only a single hand.

“The 21st-century Rouge Automatique is created for a mischievous and stylish woman. In one flick of a finger, she reveals the lipstick that will embellish her smile and make her glow with radiance.” — Olivier Échaudemaison, Guerlain Creative Director.

The formula strives to deliver 3 main promises: Second-Skin Texture, Boosted Colours, and Long-Lasting Hold. Launching next month, the 25 shades with chic French names will retail for $35 at Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Bergdorf Goodman. Here are the shades:

Beige: 100 Apres l’Ondee, 101 Voilette de Madame, 102 Ne M’Oubliez Pas, 103 Chant d’Aromes, 104 Jicky, and 105 Vol de Nuit.

Red: 120 Coque d’Or, 121 Rouge d’Enfer122 Liu, 123 Habit Rouge, 124 Samsara, and 125 Vega.

Orange: 140 Mitsouko, 141 Quand Vient l’Ete, 142 Fleur de Feu, and 143 Nahema.

Pink: 160 Bal de Mai, 161 Cherry Blossom, 162 Bloom of Rose, 163 Rose Bengale, 164, 165 Champs-Elysees, 166 Shalimar, 167 Guet-Apens, and 168 L’Heure Bleue.

Marc Jacobs' Intern Goes Crazy: Inside The Breakdown And Major PR Scandal

Remember a few weeks ago, when the fabulous world of high fashion came down, and requested the help of a Twitter-savvy Marc Jacobs’ fanatic? Well, it was definitely a first, and judging by the aftermath, hopefully a one-time only occurrence!

After realizing that the Twitter page for Marc Jacobs was, well, less than satisfactory, CEO Robert Duffy put out a help-wanted call for a new social media manager- via Twitter! The much coveted position would be awarded to whoever put forth the best 140-character tweet, telling why they should get the job!

Well, fast forward a few weeks, and it seems the Marc Jacobs didn’t find quite what they were looking for. As a result, the @MarcJacobsIntl Twitter account landed in the hands of an intern. To us mere mortals, it seems like a dream come true, but according to the Twitter rant via iPhone, there are two sides to every story. Here’s a series of frantic tweets by MJ’s intern, which landed on the company’s Twitter page:

“You guys and gals have no idea how difficult Robert is. I am only an intern. My last day is tomorrow. I wouldn't be tweeting this if not!”

“Good luck! I pray for you all. If you get the job! I'm out of here. See ya! Son't want to be ya! Roberts a tyrant! Seriously! He is tough!”

“I can call him out! I'm out! Won't work in this town again! I know that! Learned a lot. But, I don't have the energy for what is expected!”

“Yea, walk in my MJ shoes! Don't judge me! I'm alone in this office having to try and entertain you all. This isn't easy. I have tried. Done!”

The scandalous tweets appeared at 12 AM, and were removed at approximately 4 AM EST. They've created a major PR scandal, and only time will tell how it all unfolds.

It's A Hello Kitty World

Let's just say, Hello Kitty is totally taking over. Not that I mind, of course! Here's the latest:

Hello Kitty Smart Car! It was first seen around LA, and now Soho. It's the absolute perfect way to look cute and save the environment!

Hello Kitty House! Here's some shots of both the exterior and interior. It's located in Shanghai, China, proving that the love of everyone's favorite Kitty is worldwide!

And last but not least, there's that far beyond adorable Hello Kitty makeup line at Sephora that came out earlier this year! A bit less expensive, and a bit more attainable, it's by far the cutest thing on earth!

Best New Product: Josie Maran Lip and Cheek Stain

In my search for the ultimate long-lasting, duo-use beauty product, I’ve come across something that I believe to be the absolute BEST! Josie Maran’s semi-new product, Lip and Cheek Stain, is my newest discovery, and most importantly, my newest obsession.

Adorably packaged as a brightly colored pen, Josie Maran’s Lip and Cheek Stain is totally portable, and allows for effortless touch-ups whenever needed. When applied, it adds an adorable sugary, baby doll pop of color to your overall look, as well as an über sexy pout. Made with real sugar, Josie Maran’s Lip and Cheek Stain somehow manages to eliminate the artificial chemicals that most other products don’t hesitate to include, such as parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, petrochemicals, phthalates, GMOs, and triclosan.

To get the much sought after look, apply the stain to dry lips. Then, dab it on your cheeks and blend in a circular motion with your fingertips for a natural, rosy flush.

Josie Maran’s Lip and Cheek Stain is available in nine colors: Cha Cha (mauve rose), Flamenco (cherry red), Foxtrot (deep berry wine), Jitterbug (bright light pink), Jive (coral pink), Quickstep (rich plum), Tango (vibrant pink), Mambo (toasted beige), and Waltz (soft berry rose). Josie Maran is available at Sephora both online and in stores for $19.

Bloggin'

Some blogging news....

First, my far-beyond-fab roommate Katherine Chaires just created a blog! It's called As Always, Kat, and it's awesome because she doesn't stick to just one topic! It's pretty new, but already, you'll find great posts about hair, shoes, interior design, and NYC! Check. It. Outttt. :

Second, I was just given an award! I received the Kreativ Blogger Award from Style [According to Me]! Thanks so much, I definitely appreciate it! Now, I'm supposed to give 10 facts about myself, so I'll try not to be TOO boring:

1. I joined an overpriced gym because they have strobe lights.
2. I'm Jewish, but I don't look it!
3. I was once considering a career in Toy Design.
4. I've never once driven a car.
5. I've been a vegetarian for 4 years now.
6. I like to make fun of people. (Only those who do something mean to me first, of course!)
7. I will forever love 90's pop music.
8. Every Starbucks employee in Chelsea knows how I like my coffee.
9. Bebe Zeva is my Style Idol!
10. #1 fact of life: Taylor Swift is the only one who understands.

Now, who will I give this award to? I'm supposed to choose ten, but it's super late and my mind isn't functioning properly. So here are my top picks:

As Always, Kat

Sephora by OPI Launches Urban Ballerina Collection

Black Swan Inspired Nail Polish Hits Sephora Stores Nationwide!

As the thrill of Black swan continues to live on (Check out Rodarte’s exhibit of Black Swan Costumes!), we can’t help but get psyched over the newest addition to the world of the demented ballerina. This addition, although not quite as demented as it is sweet, comes in the form of nail polish.

Last week Sephora by OPI launched its newest collection, titled Urban Ballerina. Although there is no direct affiliation with the now-famous Natalie Portman film, Black Swan, it’s not too difficult to guess where the inspiration came from. Here’s what Sephora has to say:

“Inspired by the eclectic style of an urban ballerina, these colors infuse a punk-rock edge with the typically soft, sweet (and pink) palette of classical ballet. The shades in the Urban Ballerina collection reflect the urban dancer's dynamic textures and colors, like shimmering pink satin and the steely gray of downtown buildings.”

The colors are available online in a pack of four. The featured colors are Leotard-Optional, The Way Tutu His Heart, Who's Spinning Tonight?, and Break a Leg-Warmer!

Sephora Launches The First Unretouched Makeup Ad

Last Week, HD Invisible Cover Foundation Was Featured In The First Ever Unretouched Makeup Ad!

In a world where people are fake and their noses are faker, it’s quite difficult to find something natural. Or rather, it was. Last week, Sephora launched its, and the world’s, first ever unretouched make up campaign. The ad features a model holding a camera, about to take a picture of herself. Her makeup and skin look absolutely perfect, and we would otherwise believe that the ad is photoshoped, if not for the bold statement in the center of the page: “You’re looking at the first unretouched makeup ad.”

The ad is for Sephora’s new Make Up For Ever brand, and it began appearing in major magazines this month. The product featured is Make Up For Ever’s new HD Invisible Cover Foundation. Sephora claims that while wearing the foundation, even high definition photography will “struggle to find imperfections.”

“Both professional make-up artists and Sephora clients have embraced HD Invisible Cover Foundation, making it the go to for hand-applied high definition make up,” says Gilles Kortzagadarian, general manager of Make Up For Ever North America. “Our objective for this campaign is to reach consumers who have not tried the product range and prove that it truly creates a complexion so flawless, there’s no need for retouching, even for an ad visual.”

Japanese Hair in LA

Discover The Secrets Of Magic Water!

LA’s own Yoshi Hagiwara has developed Magic Water ($14), a new product which definitely holds true to its name! The “water” is actually Japanese amino ion mist, which uses electrolyte deoxidation to open hair for styling and conditioning products to get in deeper, allowing them to perform better than usual. This increases the results of your everyday hair products, leaving your hair shiny and full of color.

Magic Water, as well as other fabulous products and services, is available online and at the new Yoshi Hair Studio, located at 450 North Canon Drive, at Little Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Hills.

Galliano's Accuser: "I don't think he is anti-Semitic"

The Man Who First Accused Galliano Of Being Anti-Semitic Now Claims That He DOES Not Think Galliano Is Racist, But Is It Too Late?

A few weeks ago, John Galliano was arrested in Paris for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks. He was arrested after a witness called the police, but nothing else could be done as there was no proof. No more than three days later, a video confirming the accusations toward the then-Dior designer hit the web. Galliano was instantly criticized by the millions who had seen the video, while somehow defended by his peers in the world of high fashion. Galliano was instantly suspended from Dior, and his Paris show was cancelled.

As this was right before the Academy Awards, many attendees opted for a different gown than the Galliano original they were planning to wear, and as karma would have it, the two stars who didn’t change their choice of gown- Nicole Kidman and Sharon Stone- were quickly placed on the worst dressed list. Then, Natalie Portman, who I have never particularly liked until now, came into the picture. As the face of Dior’s perfume as well as an Israeli Jew, Portman said she was “disgusted” with Galliano, and would not be associated with him. Then, Galliano was out.

Now, the man who first accused him, Philipe Virgitti, has come out to say that he does not think Galliano is racist. "For me it was a simple bar dispute." However, Virgitti did admit that the now former Dior designer used anti-Semitic language, but he still doubts Galliano’s racism. “I'm not convinced now that he really meant [what he said]. I don't think he is racist or anti-Semitic. I just think he's very ill."

He continued, "John Galliano does not deserve this. I would like Mr Galliano to benefit from this unhappy story by drinking a little less and getting back to making the dresses and shows that he did so well."

A bit late, Virgitti.

This just in! Famous retailer Ann Taylor is going through a corporate name-change. Formerly known as Ann Taylor Stores Corporation, the company is now simply called Ann Inc.

The President and CEO of the company says that the new name reflects the multichannel strategy. He adds that the period in Ann Inc. will periodically change colors to show support for causes backed by the company, such as breast cancer research (pink) and international women’s day (purple).

It is only the corporation name that is changing, as the two brands will still be Ann Taylor and Loft. The name of the brand, Ann Taylor, will remain the same.

This Makeup Is Toxic- In A Good Way

Get Psyched For Toxic Nature!

Illamasqua is famous for creating bright Hollywood-eque makeup. And by Hollywood, we mean movies- just think Alice In Wonderland. Illamasqua's newest line, Toxic Nature, is said to be inspired by the idea of nature fighting back against the genetically modified society that invades it.

We're already in love with the offbeat advertising campaign, which features models with over-the-top makeup. Although most of us won't opt to wear it that way, the acid-infused brights will liven up any outfit! Here’s a rundown of the products:

1. Cream Pigment ($17.00) in Emerge (Peach), Bedaub (Mint), Dab (Lilac), Hollow (Toffee), Delirium (Rose Taupe), and Mould (Grape).
2. Precision Ink ($17.00) in Glister (Glistening Nude).
3. Lipstick ($15.50) in Atomic (Fuchsia) and Flare (Orange).
4. Sheer Lipgloss ($13.00) in Torture (Coral) and Divine (Pink).
5. Nail Varnish ($13.50) in Purity (Peach), Bacterium (Pearl), Radium (Lime), Stagnate (Mauve), and Gamma (Orange).
6. Toxic Claw ($35.00) is a set of two false nails created by manicurist, Mike Pocock, and inspired by the colors in Toxic Nature.

Toxic Nature is now available online at illamasqua.com, and will be hitting Sephora stores nationwide next month.

The Best Prices On Designer Clothes

Target GO International Re-Releases Pieces From Their Top Designer Collaborations!

About five years ago, Target became a major trendsetter (hard to believe, we know!) in retail. Traditionally known for budget clothing that actually looks like budget clothing, Target wasn’t expected to become a major player in the world of fashion retail.

So, the world was shocked when Target announced a designer collaboration with Fiorucci in December of 2005. What shocked us more was the fact that this was only the first designer collaboration- Target GO International would go on to release exclusive lines with designers like Proenza Schouler, Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Zac Posen, and our new favorite, Rodarte.

Now, over five years after the first collaboration emerged, Target has halted the production of new designer lines, and has just launched a new collection, bringing back 34 of its most popular dresses from 17 of the 22 designers. Here are our top picks:

1. Jovovich-Hawk. Although not typically a fan of polka dots, we can’t resist the Chiffon Dot Print Dress ($39.99.). It’s shape is loose, but yet, still has a feminine, slimming effect. The soft, light fabric makes this dress effortlessly chic!

2. Jovovich-Hawk. In today’s world, most floral pieces run the risk of looking frumpy and old fashioned. Needless to say, we’re typically not admirers of floral prints on, well, anything. But somehow, the Floral Dress in Multicolor ($39.99) is the exception! Available for a limited time, the dress features girly florals on a light background, creating an insanely adorable boho-chic vibe.

3. Erin Featherston. To be honest, we were a bit unsure what to think when learning that some of the pieces in the new collection would be black. Not that there’s anything wrong with that- the Little Black Dress is famous for a reason! But this isn’t Chanel- this is Target, in Spring, a time when very few of us opt for black. So, we were pleasantly surprised upon seeing the Layered Dress ($44.99), which features black tiered layers and a large satin bow. It’s adorable for a Girls’ Night Out, but the length and spaghetti straps make it Spring-appropriate!

4. Rodarte. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t Tavi Gevinson who made us fall in love with Rodarte, or Natalie Portman’s fuchsia Academy Awards gown, for that matter. It was instead Black Swan, the slightly overrated film about the deranged ballerina, which has become our obsession these past few months. The Slip Dress ($44.99), featuring a pale peach silhouette, is extremely reminiscent of the Rodarte-designed costumes in the award-winning film, especially when paired with edgy black accessories, as shown. We’re in love.

5. Rodarte. The LA-based design team’s second contribution to the line is the Lace-Print Dress ($39.99), an adorably sweet above-the-knee dress that will be extremely hard to resist! The dress is loaded with feminine, but the contrasting black lace gives it an edgy-chic look.

6. Alice Temperley. Although we cannot quite figure out why the Crepe Dress ($44.99) is named after a French pancake, it still managed to make our list of favorites. Featuring an empire waist, the dress is extremely versatile, with the possibility to wear it during the warmer months because of its short length, as well as the ease of pairing it with nude tights for a more formal occasion when temperatures drop.

The new collection appeared in stores and online yesterday, and will be available until April 10th.

Rory Beca At Forever 21

Forever 21 Finally Unveils Its Newest Collaboration!

Forever 21 has previously dabbled in the art of designer collaborations, partnering with both Brian Lichtenberg and Petro Zillia, to launch in-store exclusive lines. I’ve been in love with Petro Zillia ever since teen queen Miley Cyrus (pre-scandal days, if you can remember that far back…) wore a bright ribbon-layered gown to the 40th Annual CMAs. Naturally, I loved his collection at Forever 21, but honestly, I think I might love the newest collaboration even more!

Late last week, Rory Beca’s exclusive designs turned up in Forever 21 stores across the country. Haven’t heard of Rory Beca? Check out her website, and you’ll realize why she’s perfect for Forever 21! Just one look at the vintage-esque layout and designs, and you’ll be in love.

Rory Beca’s Forever 21 line is best described California beachy casual, with styles that are sure to stay trendy year-round on the West Coast- not that we don’t absolutely love them here in New York! Our favorites are the Patch Pocket Sweater and the Satin Swing Skirt ($19.80).

Rory Beca's collection is available online and in stores for a limited time.
